Lily Allen has made a candid admission on her Miss Me? podcast that she “can’t remember” exactly how many abortions she has had.
The 40-year-old singer estimated the number at “four or five” during a discussion about contraception with co-host Miquita Oliver.
Allen described her reproductive system as a “complete disaster area” before she began using an IUD contraceptive coil. “I’d get pregnant all the time, all the time,” she revealed on the podcast episode.
The singer playfully referenced Frank Sinatra’s My Way whilst discussing the topic, singing: “Abortions I’ve had a few… but then again… I can’t remember exactly how many.”
She then giggled before adding: “I can’t remember. I think maybe like, I want to say four or five.”
Oliver, 41, responded by revealing she had experienced a similar number of terminations. “I’ve had about five too! Lily I’ve never I’m so happy I can say that and you can say it and no one came to shoot us down, no judgment,” she said.
The television presenter expressed relief at being able to discuss the topic openly without facing criticism. “We’ve had about the same amount of abortions,” Oliver added.
Oliver shared her own perspective on her first abortion experience, describing feeling “very excited” about it.

“I felt like I was like a woman,” she explained, noting that the experience made her feel she was beginning her contraceptive journey as a young woman.
The presenter admitted she previously felt “embarrassed” about having multiple abortions but questioned why she should feel ashamed about her choices.
Allen recounted a particular experience where a former partner paid for her abortion procedure. “I remember once getting pregnant and the man paying for my abortion, and me thinking it was so romantic!” she recalled.
However, her perspective on the gesture has since changed significantly. “I don’t think it’s generous or romantic,” Allen stated, questioning the investment involved.
“Think about that investment, like that’s how much is it, 500 quid? Kids are a lot more expensive.”
The singer revealed that the man never contacted her following the procedure. “I mean fair tbh. I was a f***ing crazy b***h – still am!” she joked about his subsequent silence.
Oliver initially disagreed with Allen’s revised assessment, suggesting the gesture could be considered romantic if both parties agreed they didn’t want to proceed with the pregnancy.
Allen expressed frustration at feeling pressured to justify abortion decisions with extraordinary circumstances. “It actually irritates me, and I’ve said it before on the record,” she explained during the podcast discussion.
She criticised social media posts from pro-abortion accounts that highlight exceptional reasons for terminations. “I’ve seen memes going around sometimes, on Instagram from pro-abortion accounts or whatever, whenever this conversation comes up, and suddenly you start seeing people posting things about extraordinary reasons for having an abortion,” Allen said.
“Like, ‘My aunt had a kid that had this disability,’ or whatever, ‘if she went full term it was going to kill her, so we have to.’ It’s like, shut up!” she continued.
Allen advocated for simpler reasoning without elaborate justifications. “Just, ‘I don’t want a f***ing baby right now.’ Literally, ‘Don’t want a baby’ is enough reason,” she stated firmly.
Allen shares daughters Ethel, 13, and Marnie, 11, with her ex-husband Sam Cooper, whom she was married to from 2011 to 2018.
The couple also experienced pregnancy loss, with Allen suffering a miscarriage in 2008 with then-partner Ed Simmons from the Chemical Brothers.
In 2010, Allen lost a baby at six months pregnant with Cooper and was left fighting for her life due to blood poisoning.
“I nearly died. But I was so numb and I didn’t care. I’d just lost my baby and that is how numb I was,” she previously said about the ordeal.
Allen married Stranger Things actor David Harbour in 2020, but multiple sources confirmed to media outlets in February that the couple had separated after more than four years of marriage. Harbour, 50, was subsequently spotted without his wedding ring at awards ceremonies, fuelling breakup speculation.
