Sir Rod Stewart has left his long-term fans in yet another meltdown after he revealed that he will be continuing his European Tour in Poland and Italy – despite being given a stern warning about his health.
Back in August, the singer revealed he was “absolutely gutted” to have to cancel one of his shows after doctors diagnosed the rocker with strep throat.
After announcing his strep throat diagnosis, the 79-year-old was struck down with Covid-19, and in a social media post, it was confirmed his next two US shows wouldn’t be going ahead.
Just weeks before the cancelled shows, the singer opened up about his declining health and admitted he knew his “days are numbered”, telling The Sun: “I’m aware my days are numbered but I’ve got no fear.
“We have all got to pass on at some point, so we are all in the same basket. I am going to be enjoying myself for these last few years as much as I can. I say few — probably another 15. I can do that easy mate, easy.”
However, despite the fact he was left unable to sing for over a week, the Maggie May legend recently announced he is not stopping anytime soon, and revealed some news on his Instagram account.
Alongside an image of the tour poster, the caption read: “It is with unbridled enthusiasm and excitement that I announce the continuation of my European tour of Poland and Italy with more dates to come.
“In the divided world we live in, it’s always music that brings us together. So forget your worries and join me and my band for a fun-filled, glorious evening of song and dance, all in the name of rock ‘n’ roll. See ya there!! Rod Stewart.”
Fans of the singer were left delighted with the news, as one fan commented: “Cor blimey Rod what on earth does your wife feed you? You have more energy than a power station.”
“Rod my Hero number one you are fantastic,” a second added before a third said: “Best show ever, loved every second.”
“Omg can’t wait to see you another time! Thanks Sir Rod. See you there of course!” someone else penned before a fifth expressed: “He never stops!!!”
Cancelling his Vegas show, the star posted on his Instagram: “I’m desperately sorry to miss this 200th show celebration. Most people can work with strep throat but obviously not me.
“I’m absolutely gutted. I’ve been looking forward to this concert for so long. My deepest regrets for any inconvenience this has caused. Thankfully, we’ll now be returning in 2015 and I hope to see you all there,” signing off with a heartbroken emoji.
Despite the star being keen to get back on stage at the time, Stewart was given a stern warning from Dr Chun Tang, a GP and Medical Director at Pall Mall Medical, as he risked “permanent damage to his voice.”

Speaking to GB News, Tang explained: “You need to rest your voice completely for at least a week, allowing the inflammation to go down and your meds to work.
“Even if you start feeling better sooner, I’d suggest continuing to rest your voice for an extra few days. Getting back out there too soon could delay recovery or even cause permanent vocal damage.
“Also, everyone heals at a different pace, so tuning into how your voice feels is key before returning to singing. If in doubt, ask a health expert!”
