Paddy McGuinness has opened up about the reason he feels his popular dating show, Take Me Out, could not be made today.
McGuinness hosted the show from 2010 to 2019 where each week single men would reveal themselves in a studio in front of 30 single women.
The women all stood behind podiums which were accompanied by a buzzer and if they liked what they saw, they would keep their lights on until just one remained.
If the single men were successful in wooing one of the women, they would leave hand in hand and enjoy a date on the “Isle of Fernandos”.
Running for nine years, it became a hit with audiences who would keenly tune in every week to see which single girl would finally get their break.
However, the Top Gear host recently expressed his heartbreak as to why the show could not get a reboot today.

Opening up about why the show has been archived forever, McGuinness said: “I think the way things are in the world now, in media, we live in a very strange time.
“If you’re saying something jokey or something not serious or whatever, it gets taken out of context, put online, and there’s a spin on everything.
“And I think Take Me Out, because it was so kind of pure, lovely, fun and on a Saturday night, and we had a laugh – that was of its time.
“I think if you did it now, I hope I’m wrong, but I think if you did it now, there’d be that many bloody things going, ‘Oh, you can’t do that’, ‘You can’t say this’ and take things out of context and what have you.
“Because essentially, it’s a family, Saturday night entertainment show,” he added on the Table Manners Podcast.
McGuinness also added that he feels his age would also hinder the chances of a comeback as he added: “You know, I’m 51 now. At the time I was like late-30s, early-40s.
“We had a good demographic of girls to women and I felt like I could talk to every age. And I think now if I’m talking to a 20-year-old girl and they ask me about dating…
“I don’t really know the latest funny trends or anything.”
Back in December 2024, McGuinness returned to the show’s famous dating spot and posted on Instagram: “I’ve been back to the Isle of Fernandos!!!
“Did a spot of filming for a new show. I was only there for a couple of days but if you’re looking for a bit of winter sun, it was glorious! Lovely and warm.”
During the first series, Fernandos was actually Club Bijou in Manchester, where the couples would get to know one another a bit better.
After realising its popularity, from series two onwards the dates took place in Puerto de la Cruz in Tenerife.
