BBC Beyond Paradise star Kris Marshall has made his stance clear on a future comeback to Death in Paradise and the possibility of his character’s return.
Marshall entered the scene on Death in Paradise as bumbling London detective Humphrey Goodman and quickly became a firm fan favourite.
His initial assignment was to solve the murder of his predecessor, Richard Poole (played by Ben Miller), however, after his wife left him, he decided to stay on the island permanently.
After deciding to leave the show to spend more time with his family, Marshall made a triumphant return in the spin-off series Beyond Paradise.
Viewers are now able to follow the beloved character and Martha Lloyd (Sally Bretton) across the scenic fictional town of Shipton Abbott.
The star recently opened up to Radio Times about the possibility of returning to the series, as Don Gilet recently became the fifth star to take hold of the detective on the island.

When asked if there was a club for former detectives, he laughed and said: “There’s no WhatsApp group. But I would love some kind of reunion where all five of us meet up on screen.”
Discussing the couple’s journey into fostering following the last series and the focus on if Marshall and Lloyd should marry, he added: “I started filming Death in Paradise 11 years ago. I’m now in my early fifties.
“We retain an element of Humphrey’s oddities – I never want to lose them – but I’m always thinking and firing off new ideas to Tony [Jordan, the series creator].
“There is an element of existing on the fringes of everything about him that’s definitely me. He’s happy to tread his own path without apologising too much.”
The spin-off series returns to BBC One at the end of the month, however, excited fans have been left let down with the return of one character.
Archie (Jamie Bamber), an old flame of Martha’s, will be returning to the screen, leaving fans to take to their X account and share their annoyance.
One concerned fan questioned: “Archie is coming back?”
Meanwhile, another noted: “Let’s hope Jamie Bamber behaves himself. Archie better not split up Martha and Humphrey; I hate him.”
The new series synopsis reads: “DI Humphrey Goodman and the team as they tackle more mind-boggling puzzles, all set against the breathtaking landscapes of Devon and Cornwall.
“When a body is found in the river on the county border, Humphrey and Esther are thrown in the deep end, having to work alongside their Cornish counterparts. Things take a darker turn in the next case when Kelby’s friend receives threatening messages from an unknown source.
“With further mysteries including a puzzling chocolate box poisoning, a historic farming feud, a spiking at sea, and a devilish kidnapping, there’s plenty to keep the Shipton Abbott detectives on their toes.”
It continues: “Away from the police station, Humphrey and Martha continue their fostering journey, but the arrival of 9-year-old Rosie brings more challenges than they anticipated.
“Elsewhere, an unexpected change in Esther’s personal life takes her outside her comfort zone. But is she ready for something new, and can she deal with it being public knowledge?”.
