Angel Adoree recently gave her opinion on the way the roads are laid out across the country as she recalled a “traumatising” memory when driving around Cornwall.
During the final leg of their Forever Home tour, the family decided to spend a couple of days with Strawbridge’s eldest son James, and his family.
The 40-year-old penned a sweet tribute to his father and siblings, noting on Instagram: “Strawbridge’s on Tour… @escape_to_the_chateau what a lovely couple of days watching your Forever Home theatre show.
“And hanging out for the first time in Cornwall with Arthur & Dorothy! @strawbridge.dick make sure you remind Angela it’s Jam First before her next visit…” (sic)
However, whilst the family enjoyed their time there, Adoree admitted she panicked on the way down there due to the narrow roads they had to drive on.
Speaking on their podcast – Dick & Angel’s. Chat-eau – Strawbridge explained: “We went down to Cornwall to see James, Holly and the grandchildren! That is where we are talking to you from now.
“The journey itself was very very quick and easy, but then we went to Truro as a family and had a little look around the place and it was interesting because I used to go shopping in Truro.
“I took the children past where we used to be there and all in all, it’s interesting. We have moved on so far because I was in Cornwall when I was courting you, coming up and down.
“And every time we drive along some of the roads and things, I can see Angela sucking in to try and make herself smaller as we go down a narrow road.”
Interrupting her husband, Adoree quipped: “I don’t want to get any hate now on this but the roads in Cornwall I find so stressful and it goes back to, I was driving my fairway taxi.”
She explained that she did not used to be a cab driver, but owned a taxi which she used to drive around, including to Cornwall to visit Strawbridge during their early relationship.
“I couldn’t really take my taxi there it was much, shorter distances were easier. So you said, well you can borrow my car, you got me on the insurance and you had a little Volkswagon.
“So I drove to see up and I remember going up this road and I was a good halfway up it and there was this sort of four-wheel drive that came down and had no mercy and made me reverse.
“Reversing is my nightmare, I can’t reverse and it was such a long time ago so no reversing cameras, nothing.”
She continued to explain that as she was reversing “badly” and attempting to line herself up down the road, she took off the wing mirror and scratched the sides of the car.
“I was quite traumatised at that point. I am sorry. But the roads, when you drive or when I was in the car with Holly, driving the minivan.
