Paula and her husband Tom Shaw, who tied the knot in May 2014, are already parents to 10-year-old Arthur and nine-year-old Penny.
The couple welcomed their first child on New Year’s Eve in 2014, with Arthur arriving at their home. Their daughter Penny followed in July 2016.
Shaw, also an actor, has appeared in Coronation Street playing Kim Vaughan.
The pregnancy announcement marks an exciting new chapter for the family, with their youngest set to arrive just in time for the festive season.
The actress had previously taken a career break following Penny’s birth, stating she wanted to focus on family life after six years of continuous work on Coronation Street.
Paula’s television career includes her memorable six-year stint as Kylie Platt on Coronation Street from 2010 to 2016.
Her character met a tragic end when she was fatally stabbed outside a kebab shop by Clayton Hibbs, dying in husband David Platt’s arms in what became one of the soap’s most emotional scenes.
Following her Coronation Street departure, she appeared in Call the Midwife and toured with Kinky Boots. In January 2024, she joined Emmerdale as Ella Forster, a receptionist with a dark past who had killed a friend during childhood.
Her character departed in April after being arrested for allegedly drugging Chas Dingle, though she was later revealed to have been framed by John Sugden.
