Kelly Osbourne has broken her silence days after her father, Black Sabbath star Ozzy, died unexpectedly.
On Tuesday, a statement from the well-known Osbourne family confirmed the sad news, which came just weeks after Osbourne’s farewell gig with Black Sabbath, which he had returned to the UK for amid plans to re-locate permanently with wife Sharon, 72.
Announcing the death of the so-called Prince of Darkness, the family shared on Tuesday evening: “It is with more sadness than mere words can convey that we have to report that our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning.
“He was with his family and surrounded by love. We ask everyone to respect our family privacy at this time.”
Sharing her first public comments since Tuesday, Kelly, 40, shared an Instagram Story on Thursday night that read: “I feel unhappy I am so sad. I lost the best friend I ever had.”
The father-daughter pair were known to have had a close relationship.
Osbourne, who had been living with Parkinson’s, had only just completed his highly-anticipated gig in Birmingham earlier this month.
The night had also been a memorable one for Kelly, who had been in attendance and was later proposed to by long-term boyfriend Sid Wilson, in front of her dad and the rest of her family.
The television personality and singer received a surprise proposal from the Slipknot DJ backstage after the legendary rock band’s farewell show.
Video footage, shared to Kelly’s Instagram at the time, revealed a touching yet humorous moment as Sid prepared to propose in front.
Before Sid could get down on one knee, Ozzy cheekily interrupted, stating: “f*** off, you’re not marrying my daughter.”
The 48-year-old musician laughed off the interruption and continued with his heartfelt declaration.
“Kelly you know I love you more than anything. Nothing would make me happier than spending the rest of my life with you,” Sid told her.
The Osbournes had been gearing up for a few other major life changes.
Ozzy and his music manager wife Sharon had been preparing to spend the rest of their lives back in Buckinghamshire after living in the US since the 1990s.
Following news of Ozzy’s death, a friend of the family confirmed how Sharon had been making preparations to accommodate her husband as they moved back to the English county.
“Ozzy was always meant to come back to Britain to live in Buckinghamshire, it was where Sharon had spent so long preparing their family home for him,” they explained.
The source continued: “There was much hope that he would be around for a lot longer than this but at one point there were fears they would not get him back from Los Angeles for the concert earlier this month.
“Kelly has been at the house a lot in the last week or so, so has Aimee. It is terribly sad for all of them, they really hoped he would be able to carry on for a bit longer.”
