Tech tycoon Andy Byron is understood to have denied he wrote a statement addressing the viral kiss-cam moment with a colleague at a Coldplay concert on Wednesday.
Astronomer CEO, Byron, got caught in an intimate embrace with a woman understood to be a coworker on a jumbotron at a Coldplay concert in Boston this week, sparking relentless affair rumours online.
Viral footage shows what is believed to be Byron and his company’s Chief People Officer, Kristin Cabot, jumping out of each other’s arms as they flashed up on a “kiss cam” segment during the band’s show.
The pair were in an intimate embrace, with Byron hugging Cabot from behind as they swayed, before spotting their faces projected on the big screen and darting apart; Byron falling to the floor, and Cabot turning away from view.
Since the incident has exploded on social media, Byron has come out to deny a statement circulating and claiming to be from him is actually authentic.
Byron’s company, Astronomer, told TMZ that the statement floating around on social media is “not a real statement.”
The hoax letter was posted by an account on X, which holds a derogatory username and only had 50 followers at the time of posting.
It opens: “I want to acknowledge the moment that’s been circulating online, and the disappointment it’s caused.
“What was supposed to be a night of music and joy turned into a deeply personal mistake playing out on a very public stage.”
The faux statement goes on to apologise to his wife and children, and to ask for privacy whilst he navigates his life personally and professionally.
In a cringeworthy outro, the statement includes a line from Coldplay’s ‘Fix You’, reading: “Lights will guide you home, and ignite your bones, and I will try to fix you.”
The odd and inappropriate song lyric lent clues to online sleuths that the statement was unlikely to be from the CEO, but rather a hoax.
During the concert lead singer, Chris Martin, 48, joked into his microphone as the camera panned to the duo: “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just really shy.”
After, he expressed remorse over unintentionally calling them out: “Oh s**t, I hope we didn’t do something bad.”
Since being uploaded to TikTok on Wednesday, it took only a matter of hours for the clip to be reposted to other social media sites and rack up millions of views, eventually landing on global TV networks.
Social media sites have been flooded with thousands of comments and reactions to the video.

Airline Ryan Air, known for their outlandish social media strategy, quote-tweeted the video on social media site X, writing: “Ryanair [handshake] Coldplay, splitting up couples.” (sic).
People have also been piling in with memes and Gifs too: “Me liking every post about the cheating CEO and Chief of People from Astronomer at the Coldplay concert,” one user said with a slot machine GIF attached.
Another added: “Taking your mistress to see Coldplay is crazy, you would have to HATE your wife to listen to Yellow with another woman in your arms.”, posted alongside a meme of a woman with a gob-smacked expression.
Despite millions becoming invested in the potential drama, people have penned concerns for the duo and their families online.
“As much as I condemn them for doing this, this must be so awful for their families and partners” one user wrote on X.
The concern comes in response to obsessed sleuths tracking down the partners and children of the colleagues, some even commenting on their private profiles.
It’s been alleged that the wife of Byron has since removed her surname from her Facebook.
Neither of the two people in the video nor their family or friends, has responded to the allegations or video.
