Coldplay front man Chris Martin found himself in an awkward moment that ended up going viral on Wednesday.
During a gig in Boston as part of the band’s current tour, a camera began to pan around the audience, and one couple’s bizarre reaction prompted a huge response.
The pair were caught in an embrace as Martin, 48, commented: “Oh, look at these two!”
As the couple noticed they were on screen they immediately pulled apart from each other, with the woman covering her face and the man walking out of the camera’s view.
“Alright, come on, you’re ok!” Martin initially remarked before adding: “Oh, what?”
He went on to quip: “Either they’re having an affair or are just very shy!”
The awkward interaction sparked laughter from the 65,000-strong crowd, with Martin adding: “I’m not quite sure.”
Unsurprisingly, the clip has gone wild online, going viral in a matter of hours after being shared on TikTok.
Social media users also flooded the comments section, with one writing under the clip: “The irony is that if they had just stood still and smiled this would never had made it to TikTok.”
A second agreed: “They needed to play it cool,” while another penned: “The camera man just did the partners of these two a huge service!”
“Imagine getting caught by Coldplay,” a fourth shared.
Someone else wrote: “I think the funniest part is that out of everybody in the audience they were the ones that were chosen and they’re the ones that happen to be cheating on their partners if that’s not divine intervention I don’t know what is lol.”
“At least they played it off well. didn’t freak out or make it look obvious at all. totally natural…” another shared sarcastically.
One more quipped: “Cost of concert: hotel $200, tickets $600, snacks $150, divorce attorney $50,000…” (sic)
Coldplay is currently performing in the band’s record-breaking Music of Spheres tour, which kicked off in 2022.
It is set to end in September at London’s Wembley Stadium.
