Kim Turnbull has given her first extensive interview since her split from Romeo Beckham, speaking candidly about navigating sudden fame and confronting false rumours.
The DJ and model, who separated from the 22-year-old former footballer earlier this month after seven months together, addressed the intense public scrutiny she has faced.
In the interview, Turnbull revealed the challenges of dealing with untrue stories circulating about her, particularly regarding allegations of romantic involvement with Romeo’s older brother, Brooklyn, 26.
“It’s definitely tough, whatever it is, when people are saying things about you that aren’t necessarily true and, most importantly in my opinion, don’t align with your character and your values,” she told the Sunday Times.
She has found herself at the centre of the ongoing Beckham family tensions, with reports suggesting she has been made a “scapegoat” in the feud between Brooklyn and his wife Nicola Peltz, 30, and the rest of the family.
According to sources, Nicola reportedly claimed she felt uncomfortable around Turnbull, leading to significant family friction.
The situation escalated when Brooklyn and Nicola failed to attend any of David Beckham’s 50th birthday celebrations last month, including events in Miami, London, Paris, the Cotswolds, and a fishing trip to Scotland.
Turnbull described her instinctive desire to defend herself against the false narratives, but acknowledged the futility of responding to every comment.
“You want to turn around and reply to every comment and have your say in it, but at the end of the day, you just can’t,” she explained.
Following the split with Romeo, Kim explained one of the key lessons she’s learnt from the situation. “I think what I’ve learnt, at this point in life, is to try and take it with a pinch of salt,” she admitted, before conceding she found it “hard not to look” at online commentary.
“I definitely try not to, to stay off of it as much as I can. And you have to separate the things that matter and the things that don’t,” she said.
The family tensions have been particularly evident in recent weeks, with Brooklyn also failing to acknowledge his father on Father’s Day despite public messages from David and Victoria.
Sources close to the situation told the Daily Mail that Kim and Romeo’s split had “nothing to do” with Nicola, with a friend explaining: “Romeo and Kim are both young and they had a lovely time together, but at that age things don’t always last forever.”
The source added that David and Victoria “really adored her and thought she made Romeo happy, but it wasn’t to be.”
