Dominic Chinea responded to a fan question with a candid answer, prompting support in the comments section of his social media.
The Repair Shop star Chinea, 39, is a fan favourite on the emotional BBC series, and recently took the opportunity to invite viewers to ask him some quesitons.
The metal works expert, who has starred on the show since it debuted in 2017, posted on his Instagram account last week, suggesting fans leave their questions in the comment section.
Taking to his YouTube channel days later, he responded to some pressing queries.
Chinea recently made a big move from Kent to Cornwall, and opened the answer session with this topic.
Reading out the question, he began: “Why did I move to Cornwall?” before admitting: “Oh, that’s a really difficult one to start with.
“I thought we were going to start with easy questions. I lived in Kent previously, had a nice garden, nice countryside.
“It was very nice. But you know what? Why not? Really, moving to Cornwall has meant I’ve got the house, a lovely field I can turn into a nice garden, and, most importantly, a big barn that is now mine, that is my workshop.”
Despite the positives of the move, he also noted some of the trickier aspects it brought along.
“Previously, I rented my old workshop and every month, I was giving a lot of money to a landlord to rent the space,” he shared.
“Now it’s my space, and whatever I do to it, it’s mine, and that is enough of a reason for me.
“Yeah, I will admit there’s a lot of work to do, but at least it’s mine, and eventually I’ll get there, and it will be a decent workshop once again.”
Fans quickly addressed Chinea’s open and honest approach with his fans in the comments, with several leaving supportive messages.
“Thank you Dom for being so honest,” one wrote, with a second adding: “Thanks for the insight into your world, Dom. Keep up the good work.”
A third penned: “If I could give you two thumbs up I absolutely would… good on you Dom, you’re an inspiration.”
“Thank you for giving me (and others) a small glimpse of your life, your emotions and your passions!! Together with all the other videos I have been watching, week after week, I consider you a close friend because I feel part of that life you share,” another posted.
Someone else noted: “Dom, you’re awesome! So much going on and you still find time to connect with your fans, thank you!
“P.S. I’m so glad you said it’s a hotel room, if flock wallpaper had been a personal choice then a holiday was clearly long overdue!!!!”
