Sir Rod Stewart has been forced to cancel a concert at short notice due to ill health, with the 80-year-old apologising in a social media announcement.
The rocker is still touring well into the seventh decade of his illustrious career, but the cancellation marks a string of similar events which have left fans disappointed and concerned over the Maggie May singer’s health.
Informing his 1.5 million Instagram followers of the concerning update, Stewart wrote: “I am sorry to inform you that I’m not feeling well and my show tonight at The Colosseum at Ceasars Palace is being rescheduled to June 10.
“Your tickets will be valid for the new date – Sir Rod.” Given the cryptic and relatively blunt tone of the statement, several fans have expressed their fears about the legendary singer in response.
Reacting to Stewart’s X post, which shared the same statement, one fan replied: “So sorry to hear. Please feel better and get well soon.
“I don’t have a ticket and can’t afford one and you’re not close enough for me to see you in concert. I do love your music. Best wishes!”
A second shared: “Please feel better very soon!” while another commented: “Hang in Rod you’re the BEST!”
“Hope you feel better soon, travelled from the UK especially to see the show tonight. Gutted is an understatement. Going home in 2 days so can’t make the rescheduled date,” a disappointed fan shared.
“Wishing you a speedy recovery Sir Rod. I saw you around 1991 Gateshead Stadium along with Status Quo and Joe Cocker. I love your fashion style clothes have always been gorgeous,” another gushed.
Someone else who had been scheduled to attend the concert wrote: “I’m here and disappointed but more concerned that you stay well.”
“So Sorry to hear your NOT feeling well. Get well soon,” added someone else. (sic)
Worryingly, the Las Vegas update isn’t the first time Stewart’s health woes have prompted a show cancellation.
Last year, Stewart rescheduled a string of gigs due to his health. After announcing he had strep throat in August, he was later struck down with Covid-19.
Shortly after, another update confirmed two further US shows wouldn’t be going ahead.
The singer had confessed he was “absolutely gutted” about having to cancel the Vegas show but assured fans he’d be returning in 2025.
He went on to claim that “most people can work with strep throat, but obviously not me”.
A statement at the time read: “We regret to announce that tonight’s Rod Stewart concert in Stateline, NV and his August 10 show in Lincoln, CA have been postponed, as the singer recovers from a summer strain of Covid-19.
“The Lincoln, CA concert at Thunder Valley Casino will now be on August 18 and his concert at Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys in Stateline, NV concert will now be August 20. Ticket holders should hold on to their tickets as they will be honored for the rescheduled shows.”

Once again, fans rushed to support the singer in the comments section, but concert-goers who’d travelled from afar pleaded with Stewart to give more notice when pulling out of a show.
Despite his health resulting in cancelled gigs, the singer has in the past made clear he has no plans to retire, despite announcing plans to scale back on performances.
