Anita Dobson, 76, has shared a positive update on husband Brian May’s, 77, health following his stroke in August 2024.
The Queen guitarist revealed last September that he had been hospitalised after suffering what he described as a “minor stroke.”
Speaking on Love Your Weekend with Alan Titchmarsh on Sunday, the former EastEnders star was asked how Brian’s recovery is progressing.
“Brian’s still mending?” Titchmarsh asked.
Dobson replied: “Yeah, he’s good,” adding, “He’s good and he’s still exercising and taking his tablets. He played at [the] Coachella festival in America and you wouldn’t know he’d been ill. He was top of his game – brilliant.”
May first spoke about the health scare with fans last year, sharing: “I’m here to bring you first of all some news, I think.
“The good news is that I can play guitar after the events of the last few days. I say this because it was in some doubt because that little health hiccup happened about a week ago.”
He continued: “What they called it was a ‘minor stroke.’ All of a sudden, out of the blue, I didn’t have any control over this arm, so it was a little scary.
“I had the most fantastic care and attention from Frimley Hospital; blue lights flashing the lot, very exciting.”

Reflecting on his recovery, May admitted it took “sheer willpower” to get back on track.
“I couldn’t get a fork from the table to my mouth without it all going all over the place,” he said, “It was scary.”
“After only a few days, it’s amazing what you can get back. By sheer willpower, you just start retraining your muscle,” he later told Premier Guitar magazine.
Dobson and May first met in 1986 and married in 2000.
As part of one of the world’s most iconic bands, May’s music tastes have always been of interest, and Titchmarsh was curious to know what kind of music the legendary guitarist enjoys most.
Dobson explained that May’s tastes are wide-ranging, telling Titchmarsh: “He’s got a collective taste. He likes a bit of opera, classical, really heavy metal and everything in between. A good song and a good riff.”
She added: “He’s heavy metal and I’m theatre but we meet in the middle with blues.”
Back in April, May made a surprise appearance at the music festival Coachella on Friday night alongside singer-songwriter Benson Boone.
His appearance marked a triumphant return to performing after the legend had been in recovery from the health scare.
