Deborra-Lee Furness has broken her silence on her split from Hugh Jackman, taking a pointed swipe at her estranged husband amid rumours of his romance with Sutton Foster.
Speaking after filing for divorce two years after their separation, the 69-year-old Australian actress opened up about the heartbreak of ending her nearly three-decade marriage to the Deadpool & Wolverine star.
“My heart and compassion go out to everyone who has traversed the traumatic journey of betrayal,” Furness shared.
“It’s a profound wound that cuts deep, however, I believe in a higher power and that God/the universe, whatever you relate to as your guidance, is always working FOR us.”
She continued: “This belief has helped me navigate the breakdown of an almost three-decade marriage. I have gained much knowledge and wisdom through this experience. Even when we are presented with apparent adversity, it is leading us to our greatest good, our true purpose.
“It can hurt, but in the long run, returning to yourself and living within your own integrity, values, and boundaries is liberation and freedom.”
Speaking to The Daily Mail, Furness added that she knew “none of this is personal,” saying “We are all on our individual journeys, and I believe that the relationships in our lives are not random. We are drawn to people, we invite them in, in order to learn our lessons and to recognize and heal the broken parts of ourselves… I remain grateful.”
The couple’s separation has been marred by behind-the-scenes tension.

Back in January, it was reported that the pair had yet to officially file for divorce, with insiders revealing that the absence of a prenuptial agreement had complicated the division of their estimated $250 million fortune.
“When they got married, they thought it would be forever. Who doesn’t?” a source alleged.
“At the time, neither of them expected Hugh’s career to get as enormous as it has. Because there was no prenup, and he made a fortune during their marriage, this divorce is not going to be cut and dry. It may even get messy because the stakes are high.”
Another insider revealed that their split was further strained by Jackman’s close relationship with Foster, his co-star in the 2022 Broadway revival of The Music Man.
“While he didn’t physically cheat on her with Sutton, Deborra-Lee believes they were having an emotional affair and she feels he betrayed her,” the source claimed.
Jackman and Furness met in 1995 while filming the Australian TV show Correlli and married a year later.
They adopted their son Oscar, now 24, in 2000, and their daughter Ava, 19, in 2005.
Jackman’s career took off during their marriage, and he’s now estimated to be worth around $200 million.
Since announcing their separation in September 2023, Jackman has gone public with Foster, with the two spotted holding hands in Los Angeles in January.
Meanwhile, Jackman is currently starring in the off-Broadway play Sexual Misconduct of the Middle Classes alongside Ella Beatty.
