A New York judge has ordered Nicola Peltz to appear in court for a deposition before October 30 regarding the death of her Chihuahua, Nala, following a grooming session.
The 30-year-old actress must also authorise the release of medical records, including necropsy reports, related to her pet’s death.
The court order comes after Peltz’s former groomer denied any wrongdoing in her lawsuit.
According to court documents seen by InTouch, the deposition requirement follows Peltz’s legal action against dog grooming company HoundSpa, its owner Deborah Gittleman, and groomer Jony Ceballos.
Last year, Peltz sued HoundSpa, alleging the company was responsible for Nala’s death.
She claimed her family had previously experienced problems with groomer Jony Ceballos and had requested he not be used on her animals.
However, in June 2024, Peltz alleged that Ceballos was sent to her house “unbeknownst” to her to groom five of her dogs.

The lawsuit states: “Nala went into the grooming van, a happy, healthy dog, but returned injured and in severe physical distress — breathing heavily and wheezing, with her chest pulsating.”
Peltz’s lawyers claimed Nala “tragically passed away a mere two hours after being in the van with the groomer.”
Nala was a rescue dog who had been part of Peltz’s family for nine years before her death.
Peltz said the Chihuahua breed typically lives until 14 to 16 years but died younger due to what she described as “groomer’s abuse.”
After the grooming session, Peltz rushed Nala to the vet during a 15-minute drive. The veterinarian observed that “Nala’s tongue was blue, she had fluid in her lungs, and she suffered neurological damage.”
Nala was placed on oxygen and received care as Peltz witnessed her dog’s suffering.
The actress is seeking unspecified damages and has pledged to donate any compensation to a dog rescue organisation.
The legal battle unfolds amid ongoing tensions between Peltz and the Beckham family.
Sources close to the Beckhams have branded Brooklyn and Nicola’s relationship “unhealthy” and claimed that Nicola has been “isolating” Brooklyn from his family and friends.
A growing divide has reportedly emerged within the Beckham clan, particularly involving Brooklyn’s parents, David and Victoria Beckham.
While the family has remained silent on the matter, Brooklyn appeared to address the claims by supporting his wife in an Instagram post, stating he would “always” choose her.
HoundSpa and its owner have denied all allegations made against them in the lawsuit.
