David Beckham has revealed that “something is missing” in his life amid an escalating feud with his eldest son, Brooklyn Beckham, and daughter-in-law Nicola Peltz.
The former Manchester United and England player, who turned 50 this month, made the candid confession during a new interview.
The football icon opened up about missing his successful career, even as tensions continue to simmer within the Beckham family following Brooklyn and Nicola’s absence from his milestone birthday celebrations.
In the interview with Time Magazine, Beckham expressed his longing for his playing days, despite being in his fifth decade.
“I miss training every day. I miss playing every weekend. Every day, I wake up, and I feel like something’s missing. Even at 50 years old, in my head, I can still play.”
Beckham also joked about his fitness routine with wife Victoria Beckham, and added: “I let Victoria believe that she’s working harder, but I think I’m the one that’s working harder. Don’t tell her that.”

Also involved in the interview, Victoria responded: “David does an hour in the gym, and I do an hour and 45 minutes, so I will let you make that decision.”
The ongoing family tensions were highlighted this week when Brooklyn and David were just half a mile apart in London but reportedly did not meet.
Brooklyn, 26, was in the area for a modelling shoot with Italian fashion house Moncler, for which he has signed a six-figure deal.
Meanwhile, David was attending the Chelsea Flower Show, where he met King Charles and Queen Camilla.
Earlier this month, Brooklyn and Nicola swerved David’s 50th birthday celebrations despite flying to the UK, allegedly to celebrate with him in private.
The fallout has intensified with some reports suggesting David and Victoria are “done” with their “controlling” daughter-in-law.
Other sources claim Brooklyn is hurt by his parents showing “favouritism” to his brother Romeo, who is dating Brooklyn’s former friend Kim Turnbull.
Sources told The Mirror that Nicola and Brooklyn were “devastated” not to see his parents during the birthday visit.
“They cannot believe that Victoria and David refused to see them privately after they travelled all the way to London specifically to try to repair the relationship.”
After the shoot, Brooklyn went to his hotel in Park Lane to spend the evening with Nicola, who shared snaps from the Moncler shoot on Instagram before flying back to America on Tuesday.
Victoria appeared to offer an olive branch to Brooklyn recently when she shared a snap of her four children on her father’s birthday, writing: “We all love you so much.”
David also reached out on social media, posting a photo of Brooklyn along with his siblings as he wished Victoria a happy US Mother’s Day.
The former footballer is reportedly “desperate to make amends with his son” as he fears history might be repeating itself, following his own bitter fallout with his father Ted in 2005.
