Experienced land agent and Clarkson’s Farm fan-favourite ‘cheerful’ Charlie Ireland has shared nothing but kind words towards co-star Jeremy Clarkson ahead of the show’s fourth season.
Over the past six years since Clarkson decided to take over the running of his Oxfordshire farm, Ireland has been on hand to guide him through the process.
This has included putting up the necessary fights with local authorities, helping Clarkson navigate endless red tape, and even accosting the former Top Gear host when his antics have ventured into chaotic – and even dangerous – territory.
During the three seasons of Clarkson’s Farm, fans have witnessed how all of these tasks have resulted in a rather exasperated Ireland, and the fourth run promises to be no different thanks to Clarkson’s decision to buy his own pub.
Inevitably, the pub purchase in the heart of the Cotswolds proves to be far from a plain sailing venture, with the show’s trailer revealing just how many obstacles the Grand Tour star faces in his bid to get the doors open.
But despite another year of harvest woes, council clashes, and Clarkson chaos, Ireland has reflected on his experience working with the 65-year-old in a very positive light.

“Every day is a school day,” Ireland said when asked about bringing Clarkson’s brainwaves to fruition.
He explained: “You bring the experience you have from the other ventures, and you just think, ‘Right, how do we create what he wants to achieve?’”
Paying tribute to Clarkson’s determined attitude, Ireland continued: “There’s no beating him down. It’s a case of channeling his enthusiasm more than guidance. His creativity and inventiveness are brilliant.”
Ireland even had compliments up his sleeve about Clarkson’s farming ability, something he and farmhand Kaleb Cooper regularly debate in episodes of the hit Amazon series.
“His technical farming ability is slowly developing, and he’s very good at pig farming,” Ireland conceded. “I think he does enjoy that in particular.
“There’s a lesson: if you really like something, you’ll tend to probably be quite good at it.”
While Ireland and Cooper have arguably been the biggest helping hands to assist Clarkson on his journey into becoming a farmer, season four presents a big change to the workforce.
In the upcoming series, which has been filmed over the past two years, Cooper leaves his farming duties behind him to embark on a nationwide stage tour.
In the trailer for the new series, Clarkson is left to handle the running of the farm on his own, which results in him confiding in Ireland that he needs extra help after being “left in the lurch” by Cooper.
Enter Harriet Cowan, a 24-year-old nurse and farmhand who joins the series to help Clarkson in Cooper’s absence.
Cowan will be introduced in the season four premiere, as Clarkson throws her straight into the deep end by filling the void left by Cooper.
However, fans needn’t fear for Cooper’s future as he soon returns to Diddly Squat to resume his duties as farm manager.
In fact, Clarkson took to Instagram this week to put to bed any fears that Cooper had been replaced permanently by recording him hard at work at his Chipping Norton farm.
The fourth series of Clarkson’s Farm returns to Amazon Prime Video on May 23 with episodes one through four. Episodes five and six follow the following week, and episodes seven and eight arrive the week after.
