Former Coronation Street star Sacha Parkinson has given birth to her first child, a daughter named Sadie.
The 32-year-old actress, best known for playing Sian Power on the ITV soap, revealed she welcomed her baby girl last week.
Parkinson shared the happy news with her followers on social media, posting the first photos of her newborn daughter.
The announcement has been met with an outpouring of congratulations from fans and former co-stars.
LATEST DEVELOPMENTS:
Parkinson posted a pair of sweet black and white snaps of her newborn on Instagram.
The actress captioned the touching photos: “1 whole week of Sadie,” revealing both her daughter’s name and that she had given birth the previous week.
The intimate images gave followers their first glimpse of baby Sadie, with the new mother choosing a classic monochrome style for the announcement.
Among Parkinson’s former Coronation Street colleagues quick to offer their congratulations on the post were the likes of Lucy Fallon, Sally Dynevor, and the ITV soap’s Instagram account itself.
Fallon, who plays Bethany Platt, commented: “Gorgeous. Hope you’re all ok.”
Strictly winner and soap star Ellie Leach also shared her excitement, writing: “Soooooo beautiful congratulations.”
Dynevor, known for her role as Sally Metcalfe, added: “Oooooh wow congratulations. How wonderful. She’s so beautiful.”
Parkinson first revealed her pregnancy in December last year, sharing the news with her followers on Christmas Eve.
The actress posted Polaroid snaps of her baby bump, telling fans that 2025 was going to be a “wild” year.
This happy news comes after Parkinson announced her engagement to fiancé Jon in 2023.
The couple got engaged during a holiday together when Jon popped the question.
Parkinson appeared on Coronation Street for almost four years before leaving the soap in 2011 to pursue other acting opportunities.
During her time on the cobbles, she made history as one half of the show’s first ever lesbian couple, forming a romance with Sophie Webster (played by Brooke Vincent).
Her portrayal of Sian Power became a significant milestone for the long-running ITV soap, breaking new ground for LGBTQ+ representation.
Since leaving Coronation Street, Parkinson has built a diverse acting portfolio across British television. She has appeared in popular shows including Waterloo Road, Mr Selfridge and Cold Feet.
Most recently, the actress starred in the 2023 ITVX thriller Platform 7.
She isn’t the only former Corrie star to have shared exciting baby news recently, with Michelle Keegan also welcoming her first child with husband Mark Wright just a few weeks ago.
Keegan and Wright welcomed their daughter Palma Elizabeth Wright on March 6 and have been inundated with congratulatory messages after sharing intimate snaps of the tot’s first month in the world.
