Benidorm could soon be making a comeback eight years after its axe, with Joyce Temple-Savage actress Sherrie Hewson revealing what she knows about the ongoing rumours.
The 74-year-old starred in the former ITV comedy from 2012 until its cancellation in 2018, with the show having been on air for 11 years in total.
In recent years, there has been speculation the Brits abroad sitcom could be making a return, although nothing official has been confirmed yet.
When asked about it herself, Hewson recently admitted: “There is this thing that it’s coming back though, and I keep that alive.”
Speaking on the Best Suddenly Single podcast, she no doubt made fans’ day as she continued: “It is now a possibility. That would be wonderful because we all miss it desperately.”
The decision to axe the series was made in 2018, just two months before Benidorm won Best Comedy at the TV Choice Awards.
Speaking at the time, show creator Darren Litten commented during his acceptance speech: “This is a bit awkward – the show’s just been cancelled.
“I have huge respect for ITV – a show that’s getting 5.5 million and still picking up awards, but they’ve cancelled it. That takes balls.”
