Kanye West has made a shocking admission during a recent interview with DJ Akademiks, stating he “didn’t want” to have children with his ex-wife Kim Kardashian.
The 47-year-old rapper, who now goes by Ye, made the controversial comments during an hour-long conversation uploaded to YouTube on Sunday.
The interview has been described as “wildly offensive and unhinged” as West spoke about his regrets regarding his former marriage and their four children.
“That was my fault,” West said during the interview. “I didn’t want to have children with this person after the first two months of being with her, but that wasn’t God’s plan.”
The controversial statement comes as West and Kardashian continue to battle over custody of their children following their divorce.
West claimed he lacks proper control over his children’s lives, stating: “I don’t got the name and likeness ownership, or at least 50-50 with my kids. So how’s it joint custody?”
West and Kardashian were married for six years from 2014 to 2021 and share four children: North, 11, Saint, nine, Chicago, seven, and Psalm, five.
During the interview, West expressed frustration about his children’s celebrity status, saying: “My kids are celebrities and I don’t have the say so.”

He added: “So this white woman and this white family have the control of these highly influential black kids that are half the children of Ye.”
The rapper has previously complained about wanting more involvement in raising his children rather than just visitation rights.
The former couple’s feud recently escalated over their daughter North’s musical collaborations.
West took aim at Kardashian in a series of tweets over a week ago, expressing his opposition to a planned musical collaboration between North and rapper Playboi Carti.
Meanwhile, West himself released a song featuring North and Diddy, which reportedly infuriated Kardashian.
Sources claim Kardashian has sought legal action to “protect” North from having any affiliation with Diddy, who is currently behind bars awaiting trial on serious charges.
Reports also suggested Kardashian abruptly ended one of North’s visits with West upon learning Andrew Tate would be present.
West’s behaviour during the interview was particularly controversial as he wore offensive clothing items.
At one point, he changed from wearing a T-shirt from disgraced rapper Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs and a Swastika chain into a black, KKK-inspired garb.
West told DJ Akademiks that he had the outfit custom-made along with an identical white version.
When asked about wearing such outfits in public, West said he wanted to but feared people would “put me in a hospital for my outfit.”
West’s social media attacks against Kardashian have intensified in recent weeks.
The rapper shared and later deleted threatening texts where he declared he was ready to “go to war” with Kim and branded her family a “mob”.
Comparing his visitation rights to being “in jail”, West wrote: “DONT WANT TO JUST ‘SEE’ MY KIDS. I NEED TO RAISE THEM.”
He continued: “I DONT CARE IF I LIVE OR DIE OR IF I’M IN JAIL OR FREE AND I ESPECIALLY DONT CARE ABOUT WHATEVER THESE P**Y A** CELEBRITIES GOT TO SAY.”
