Lewis Capaldi is set to make his long-awaited return to music after taking a hiatus since 2023 due to his battle with Tourette’s syndrome and mental health challenges.
The Scottish singer, 28, has been working on new material according to his close friend Yungblud, who has confirmed he’s heard Capaldi’s upcoming music.
This marks a significant development for fans who have been waiting for the “Someone You Loved” hitmaker to resume his career following his emotional break from the spotlight.
Capaldi announced his break from music following a difficult performance at Glastonbury in June 2023, where he visibly struggled with his Tourette’s symptoms.
During the emotional set, he told the audience his voice had “packed it in” as he battled with the neurological condition that causes involuntary movements and sounds.
Shortly after, Capaldi shared that he needed time to get his “mental and physical health in order” and cancelled all upcoming shows.

Yungblud, whose real name is Dominic Harrison, recently revealed in an interview with The Sun that Capaldi is making positive progress and said: “I have heard his new music and it sounds great. He is getting his mental health right.
“I love him, as me and him have been on this ride together. We experienced it at the same time and he is perhaps the only friend who knows what I am going through.”
In a clear sign that Capaldi is preparing for his comeback, the singer has unveiled plans to build a recording studio in the grounds of his £1.6m Scottish mansion.
Detailed blueprints submitted to East Renfrewshire Council show the private music zone will be built near a pond at the luxury property.
This development represents the biggest hint yet that the star is ready to resume his career.
After his Glastonbury performance, Capaldi took to social media to announce his hiatus, saying: “I need to spend much more time getting my mental and physical health in order.”
Six months later, on New Year’s Eve, he provided an update to fans, sharing: “I’m really happy to say I’ve noticed a marked improvement in both since I decided to take some time off back in June.”
He has kept a relatively low profile since then, occasionally being spotted in Scotland.
Capaldi’s second studio album, “Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent,” detailed his battles with anxiety and being a hypochondriac.
The singer has made several improvements to his Scottish property since moving in, including plans for a swimming pool and a triple garage for his car collection.
For fans who have missed his distinctive voice and emotional ballads, the news of his return will be welcomed with open arms.
With new music in the works and a dedicated recording space being built, 2025 is shaping up to be the year of Lewis Capaldi’s comeback.
