The Apprentice saw its first double-firing of the series as Lord Sugar sent both Keir Shave and Frederick Afrifa packing after their disastrous banking app task, which failed to secure a single investment from industry experts.
During last night’s episode, candidates were tasked with creating an educational banking app and money box for children aged six to nine.
Both teams set off on the challenge and attempted to design their respective apps, leaving one of the groups opting for a dog-themed money box to pitch to industry experts.
In an attempt to design the dog collar, candidate Mia Collins devised the idea of Strong Savers and used the letters SS on the dog tag, but they quickly realised the error of their ways and changed the logo to a pound sign.
Despite their best efforts, the team was unable to secure any investments, which left Sugar stunned and to exclaim: “Really? Not even a penny? That’s very disappointing.”
Being particularly critical of Afrifa’s leadership during the task, Sugar added: “Seems like a completely disjointed organisation you were running there. Completely disjointed.

“My gut feeling tells me that you’ve got a lot to answer, Frederick. I don’t like wasting my time. Listening to everybody, I think that you missed an opportunity of one in a million.
“You got no orders at all. So, Frederick, with regret. You’re fired.”
Moving on to Shave, Sugar noted: “You didn’t get any investment. How can you talk about an app that you weren’t involved in designing? This lot here keep saying that the reason that it all failed was because the app was c**p.
“I think you led a bad team, I think the dynamics of the team are terrible at the moment. I think the pitch was the reason that this task failed,” before firing him as well.
Viewers were quick to point out the problematic nature of the original design on social media, as one person wrote on X: “NOT ONE OF THE TEAMS NEARLY PUTTING THE ‘SS’ ON THEIR LOGO #TheApprentice.”
Another viewer described it as the “worst idea ever,” while a third simply commented: “SS? #TheApprentice.”
Speaking about their time on the show and how he felt to have been fired in the brutal way, Shave told Yahoo he had been “happy” with his progress and said: “I had a few goals going into The Apprentice.
“I wanted to win as project manager, I wanted to get the team name [Parallel] which I managed to get, I wanted to prove my sales ability. The only thing I missed was making the top five, which I was gutted about.”
Afrifa expressed shock at his sudden dismissal and added: “Being fired straight away was a shock. It was very, very surprising. I think Spurs were playing that night, so we need to get off quickly!”
Elsewhere in the episode, other fans were left confused when they realised the show was filming in a familiar setting – the Dragons’ Den studio.
The location was immediately spotted by eagle-eyed fans watching, as one joked: “Have I switched over to a repeat of Dragons’ Den? I’m out,” one viewer joked on X.
“Are they pitching in the Dragons’ Den?” someone else added before another expressed: “Love that they are using the same room where Dragons’ Den is filmed.”
Some viewers suggested the show should have gone further with the crossover, with one commenting: “Should’ve got the real Dragons in the Den…” (sic)
