Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has reportedly become increasingly worried about his future and fears his career could be over – with one pal claiming he is in “a bad way”.
During the Strictly live tour photocall in Birmingham, Evans was caught using a vulgar sexual phrase towards Janette Manrara – who is yet to address the ongoing drama.
On Monday evening, it was revealed that Evans had come to an agreement with the BBC and was stepping away from the live tour – which left his series partner Katya Jones devastated.
In a statement on his Instagram story, he revealed: “I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.
“Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.”
BBC bosses initially gave Evans a warning for his comment but later changed their stance when anger from fans of the show began to grow.
Jones has publicly supported her partner and reposted his statement on her own Instagram story and captioned: “Let’s show humanity and consideration. I will miss you my darling boy.”
She later unfollowed Evans’ ex-girlfriend Liz Brookes after it was revealed she was “humiliated” by his behaviour– before posting a selfie in her tour changing room with an image of Evans in the background.
Evans’ brother, Mark Llewelyn Evans, also shared his unwavering support on X and said: “As a brother, I want to express my unwavering support for him during this challenging time.
“Wynne has a heart of gold and the courage of a lion, paired with a talent that outshines most. His charisma and humour have brought joy to countless people.”
He even launched a petition which was titled “Demand Fair Treatment for Wynne Evans by the British Press.”
Whilst Evans’ has the support of his friends and family, the Go Compare star is reported to be seriously worried about his career and according to a friend, is in a “bad way.”
Since the revelation of his scandal, the BBC has been under pressure from viewers to shelve his new travelogue, Wynne & Joanna: All At Sea, with Gavin & Stacey actress Joanna Page.
Speaking to The Mirror, a friend of the star claimed: “At the end of the day, he has been a bit of an oaf and made a stupid mistake, but does he deserve such hatred?
“Yes, using the term ‘spit-roast’ was absolutely wrong, and he realises this. His problem is that he is a joker and he continually wants to play to the crowd.
“Jamie Borthwick is his mate and he was laughing and joking, and Katya plays along with the joke too. It’s just schoolboy comedy.

The friend added: “Talk of his career ending is premature – at the end of the day, his radio show is very popular, and he is very much liked. Everyone hopes he can see the light at the end of the tunnel.”
This isn’t the first time Evans’ has been caught up in a scandal as last year viewers spotted her appearing to stop his hand from straying across her waist.
The pair later said they were “just messing around” in what was a “very silly inside joke”.
