Sir Rod Stewart has taken to social media with a massive update to his 2025 global tour which is set to be among his last major international gigs.
The change follows reports that the 80-year-old had demanded a seven-figure fee and other luxuries to play at a beloved festival this summer.
Bosses from the Henley Festival, a yearly soiree along the Thames, were reportedly “stunned” at Stewart’s asking price of £1million to play at the event.
On top of the 80-year-old’s huge fee was the demand that he be taxied to and from the gig by helicopter.
“We did try to get Rod Stewart, but he was expensive. Far too expensive,” an inside source at Henley revealed to the Daily Mail.
Festival organisers were taken aback as they had already managed to book Motown icon Diana Ross, Rick Astley, McFly and others to appear at the July 9 show.
Now, Stewart has given fans some good news as he announced the addition of seven new dates to his 2025 “One More Time” tour.
The rocker declared: “Europe, I’ve added more shows!”
“You asked, and I delivered,” he added defiantly about the November and December shows.
The 80-year-old will now additionally play Hamburg, Leipzig, Mannheim, Cologne, Zurich, Munich and Vienna.
The seven new gigs add to an already packed calendar for the Maggie May hitmaker who last year revealed plans to stop international tours.
In November, Stewart announced over Instagram that “this will be the end of large-scale world tours for me.
“I have no desire to retire,” he declared despite the news, adding that “I‘m fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 meters in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.
“I’d like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy.
“But then again, I may not…” the iconic rocker signed off: “The Ambiguous Sir Rod Stewart.”
Despite the concession, Stewart has continued to add dates to his 2025 tour.
