Great British Bake Off’s most recent episode on Tuesday sent hearts racing as the pressure became too much for some of the contestants.
The instalment was also the decider for the show’s sought-after final three, but when the decision was reached by judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith, fans were left outraged, convinced one baker had been “robbed”.
As the competition heated up, Georgie Grasso even threatened to quit.
She sobbed that it had become too much during one of the challenges, but thankfully host Alison Hammond managed to talk her round and she changed her mind.
The chaotic episode saw several struggling with Patisserie Week, but it ended up being Gill Howard who fell at the final hurdle.
The “proud Lancashire lass” had admitted patisserie wasn’t her strong suit, admitting to Fielding: “It’s not something I do on a regular basis. It’s a bit faffy.”
For her final showstopper, Howard made strawberry entremets, explaining: “Strawberries are small so I’m hoping that will show finesse.”
When the judges announced at the end it would be Howard heading home, she took the news very graciously, commenting: “Quite right too!
“Patisserie got me, but I can’t be sad. I’ve had the absolute best time. Brilliant, can’t be sad.”
Hollywood later admitted: “It wasn’t the fact that Gill messed up, it’s just that everybody else was that little bit better.”

Hugging fellow baker Grasso, Howard instructed her she had to “do this for the girls”.
While fans had been commenting how hard it would be to call which baker would be leaving, many were less-than-impressed over the judges’ choice to eliminate Howard.
Taking to X, one fan penned: “Gill has been robbed there! #GBBO.”
“Gill was such a wonderful baker and human #GBBO,” a second wrote.
“#gbbo wrong decision! Dylan has been Paul’s favourite all along and he has never seemed to praise Jill enough throughout the weeks,” a third fumed.
Someone else commented: “Gill was never the right choice to go over Georgie, she did better over all 3 rounds and has never lost her head during a bake? Sad to see Gill go! #GBBO.”
