Gabby Logan has taken to her social media account to celebrate a huge milestone in her career, which just so happens to be a one-up over Gary Lineker after his Match of the Day exit announcement.
Logan hosts The Sports Agent podcast alongside Mark Chapman to discuss all things sport which launched in March this year and things are on an upward trajectory for the project.
A synopsis for the show reads: “Gabby Logan and Mark Chapman, two of the UK’s best sports broadcasters, host a brand new twice-weekly podcast exploring the stories behind the sports.
“Drawing on their wealth of experience and insight, with exclusive interviews and expert analysis, Gabby and Mark tackle the big issues and explain not just what’s happening, but why. They’ll also bring a healthy dose of humour when needed too.
“And it’s not just about the football. The Sports Agents will bring you inside the greatest sporting events from around the world in what promises to be a truly memorable year of sport.”
Today, Logan announced that their online show was ranked number one in the Podcast charts – taking the top spot from Lineker’s podcast The Rest is Football.
She screenshotted the image and posted it to her Instagram story, writing: “We have such a great team on ‘The Sports Agents’ and over the last nine months we’ve been building something we’re really proud of. Well done team!”
The star has also just been named Sports Presenter of the Year at the Broadcast Now Awards and shared the exciting news on her main Instagram page.
“Thank you @broadcastnow_mbi for the award of Sports Presenter of the Year. I was very lucky to work on some phenomenal events, the Six Nations, London Marathon, Euros, Olympics on @bbcsport and a whole lot more in 2024.
“I am very lucky to love my job and I love the talented people I work with and of course the uber talented people I talk about in an ever changing, ever challenging industry.
“Thanks for the glam – @melissabourne @thelondoner for the location @charlottehandleygreen Also I am wearing a microphone on the pics….I haven’t had it surgically implanted.”
The awards win and chart success comes as Logan stands as one of the favourites to replace Lineker after he stepped down from his role as presenter on Match of the Day after 25 years.
Lineker was announced to be leaving earlier this month and signed an extension to finish his run on the show until the latest football season ends in 2025.
He will then continue his work with the BBC to host the coverage of the 2026 World Cup before stepping away for good.
“The BBC and Gary Lineker have agreed in principle on a contract extension through to the 2026 World Cup,” the BBC said while confirming his Match of the Day tenure was ending.
Lineker said: “I’m delighted to continue my long association with BBC Sport and would like to thank all those who made this happen.”
