Davina McCall’s husband Michael Douglas has issued a major update about his wife’s recovery after she went in for surgery last Friday to remove a brain tumour.
The former Big Brother host revealed last week that she had been diagnosed with a brain tumour that needed to be taken out over fears of its growth causing more issues in the long run.
In a candid video alongside Douglas on Instagram, she revealed the diagnosis came about after undergoing a scan in exchange for giving a talk about going through menopause.
“I thought I was going to ace it,” she admitted, before explaining the shocking results.
She told fans that the tumour measures 14mm wide, and after consulting multiple neurosurgeons and getting several opinions, McCall acknowledged she could no longer delay treatment.
“It needs to come out because if it grows, it would be bad,” she explained to her followers.
McCall underwent the craniotomy operation on Friday, November 15, a surgical procedure where part of the skull is temporarily removed to access the tumour.
The presenter revealed she will spend approximately nine days in hospital following the operation.
“I’m going to be off my phone for a while,” she told followers, adding: “But I don’t want you to worry about me. I’m doing that enough as it is.”
She went on to say that her husband would be on hand to issue updates to those who want to follow along on her recovery and know that she got through the operation well.
In a new update today, the 49-year-old wrote on her behalf: “Update – Mega progress these last 24 hours. Massive relief to see some light breaking through. Thanks for all the good vibes coming in from all angles.
“Up and up, Michael,” alongside four red heart emojis.
Friends and fans of the presenters were quick to send their well wishes, as EastEnders actress Patsy Palmer penned: “Sending healing,” alongside four heart emojis and a plaster emoji.
Dr Chloe Mitchell added: “Loving awareness is magic! Such healing words of wisdom.”
Dame Kelly Holmes commented: “Awesome news Michael.”
Menopause coach Claire Hattrick said: “Such great news Michael. Sending lots of love and a continued speedy recovery to Davina.”
