Who Wants To Be A Millionaire? viewers were left frustrated on Sunday night after one contestant made a grave error early on in her round and missed out on winning thousands.
Host Jeremy Clarkson welcomed contestant Jackie Lynch onto the show and was eager to see how far she was willing to go with the chance to become a millionaire.
Lynch successfully made it through the Fastest Finger round with the quickest time and was hopeful that she could go all the way.
However, she made a rookie mistake and used all of her lifelines within just a few rounds and left viewers annoyed after her successful first round.
The controversial move meant that she managed to get up to £125,00 with ease, but it meant that she had to rely on her own knowledge to make it to a million.
Realising her error, Lynch decided to use her safety net – which meant that if she got the next couple of questions wrong, she was still walking away with thousands.
Her plan didn’t quite come to fruition though as she was given a sports question about Floyd Mayweather’s 2015 boxing fight and had no idea what the answer would be.
Working out what the best option would be, she decided to take the money and leave – but fans were irritated and claimed she could have got much further if she took a moment to think about the answer.
Discussing the “expensive mistake”, one fan penned on social media: “Who wants to be a millionaire p***es me the f*** off. They’re always using lifelines for p*** easy questions.”
“Bit cocky for someone who has already used 2 lifelines #millionaire #wwtbam,” another added before a third said: “And this is why you shouldn’t waste your lifelines on easy questions. #whowantstobeamillionaire.”
“WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire That was a waste of a lifeline,” someone else expressed before a fifth noted: “The fact I’d have got to £250,000 with 4 lifelines if I were Jackie… #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”
However, not all were annoyed at Lynch for her mistake, as one praised: “Jackie Lynch is outta here. She did well to win £125k! #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.”
Another expressed: “Well done Jackie. Cracking win #WhoWantsToBeAMillionaire.” (sic)
This is the second week in a row that fans have been left annoyed with the show after two contestants walked away with two six-figure sums.
