Former EastEnders star Danny Dyer has launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Keir Starmer and the Labour Government in a recent interview.
The 47-year-old actor expressed his distrust of Starmer, claiming the Labour leader only secured his position due to the Conservatives’ failures.
Dyer didn’t mince words when discussing the current political landscape, stating: “The Tories are such f***ing a**holes that Keir Starmer got in not for what Labour were saying but because the Tories f***ed it up so much.”
He further criticised Starmer’s approach, particularly regarding pensioners as he commented: “And I don’t like this man. I don’t trust this man. He got the job handed to him on a plate.
“So what are you going to do to show us you’re different? And he’s gone straight in on pensioners? I find that f***ing fascinating.”
Dyer’s criticism extended to Labour’s policies, particularly their plan to cut winter fuel payments for millions of pensioners.
He expressed concern about the party’s direction, stating: “This is meant to be a working-class party. We need more working-class people in politics.”
The actor reserved praise for Deputy Prime Minister Angela Rayner, suggesting she should lead the Labour Party.
“Why Angela Rayner’s not leading things I don’t know. When she speaks, I listen,” he told The Big Issue.
He also lamented the lack of effective leadership in the UK, saying the country “needs to be inspired” but hasn’t had a proper leader in a “very long time”.
Dyer’s comments reflect his ongoing engagement with British politics, following his previous outspoken remarks about Brexit and former Prime Minister David Cameron.
In 2018, he made headlines for his commentary on David Cameron after the Brexit vote.
Sharing the stage with Jeremy Corbyn and others, Dyer lambasted the former PM, saying: “Let’s go back to this whole Brexit thing, when you’re judging them because they don’t know what Brexit is.
“Who knows about Brexit? No one has got a f***ing clue.”
He continued his rant: “So what’s happened to that t**t David Cameron who brought it on? Let’s be fair.
“How comes he can scuttle off? He called all this on. Where is he? He’s in Europe. He’s in Nice with his trotters up. Where is the geezer? I think he should be held accountable for it.”

Earlier this year, Dyer slammed the performing arts industry over it’s “disgusting” lack of working class performers.
It came as Dyer starred in Ryan Sampson’s series, Mr Bigstuff.
Discussing the new programme in a recent Radio Times interview, both men bemoaned how the industry they work in treats working-class performers and how it altered Sampson’s writing process.
“There aren’t many working-class people in the arts – it’s disgusting,” Dyer fumed.
He went on: “The classism of the theatre world when I started out spurred me on.”
