This week’s Great British Bake Off saw the usually calm and wholesome programme interrupted several times, leading judge Paul Hollywood to ask “what the hell is going on?”
The fifteenth series is only on its second instalment, but the chaotic episode saw two bakers needing medical attention and one quitting the series.
The Channel 4 family show took a dramatic turn on Tuesday, with biscuit week seeing a few contestants crumbling.
The chaos ensued firstly with former university lecturer Jeff, who unfortunately hadn’t been feeling well during week one and ended up having to quit in the second week due to illness.
“I’ve had enough,” he explained in the latest episode. Comforting him, host Alison Hammond told him: “You tried man, you tried.”
The drama was far from over though, with 31-year-old midwife Illiyin also falling ill. After telling the crew she “felt a bit dizzy,” she was later helped to the floor by medics, who put her in the recovery position.
Judge Prue Leith was clearly concerned as she asked the baker: “Are you all right?”
Illyin ended up being guided away by medics as she alluded to her success in the first week, joking: “Handshakes the first episode, fainting the second.”
Host Noel Fielding was tasked with presenting her biscuits to the judges in her place and quipped: “God this is horrible. I’ve had nightmares about this.”
It seems the bad luck in the tent wasn’t yet over though, with Dylan the next baker to cause alarm. The contestant ended up tumbling off his chair, with car mechanic Andy quickly announcing: “They’re dropping like flies!”

Some were worried Dylan had also fainted but he soon confirmed he’d fallen while trying to reach for his water bottle.
Hollywood, 58, expressed his bewilderment at the chaos as he asked: “What the hell is going on?”
It didn’t take long for fans of the show to respond to the unexpected drama, with many taking to X to express their concerns and sympathy for Jeff.
“OMG! He fell over #GBBO,” one pointed out, with another adding: “OMG! She’s collapsed. Reminds me of Joe Sugg doing the same at the sight of blood. #GBBO.”
“Omg she’s passed out!! #GBBO,” a third commented.
