Sir Rod Stewart and wife Penny Lancaster were recently snapped beaming with their beloved pooch Lilly not long after clarifying the truth about rumours of a “rift”.
Stewart, 79, and Lancaster, 53, are all smiles in a post shared by animal charity Celia Hammond Animal Trust. The husband and wife are the picture of happiness as they snuggle up to their dog in the sweet snap.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, and speculation has been rife over the last few weeks about a rift between the two over moving back to the UK or remaining in the US.
However, as reports circulated, Stewart issued a defiant statement quashing the claims. Taking to his Instagram, he penned: “Despite erroneous articles in the Daily Mail and other tabloids that followed suit. We wanted to put the record straight.
“There is absolutely no rift between Penny and I and no disagreement over where we should reside, in fact, it’s the opposite.
“We moved permanently back to our beloved Britain a year ago but are fortunate to also have homes in different countries, which we love to visit. Originally, we did think it made sense to sell our house in LA.”
He continued in the lengthy post: “But having spent a wonderful time there this summer with family and friends during my Vegas residency we realised that it makes sense to keep our house there.”
The duo have since been spotted in the adorable photo with their Labradoodle as they supported a cause close to their hearts.
The charity provides essential low-cost veterinary services to sick and injured pets and also rescues unwanted or abandoned stray cats in the capital and the South East.
Lancaster beamed in wide-leg jeans and a white tip while Stewart sported black jeans and a white shirt as they sat on their neat lawn with Lilly in the middle of them.
The couple shared their personal story about Lilly, writing: “Lilly, our rescue dog from Battersea, came into our lives just before lockdown. She shows us her gratitude every day with her love, protection and loyalty,” Hello! magazine reports.
They continued: “She doesn’t leave our sides and is the best guard dog, warning us of anyone approaching ten minutes before we know they’re even close.
“Lilly’s unconditional love is like no other. We may have rescued her, but we are so blessed to have found her.”
The charity penned: “For this special campaign, Mark has teamed up with some amazing celebrity friends who’ve each written heartfelt stories about why they love their animals.
