Death in Paradise star Josephine Jobert has made a surprise admission as to whether she misses being on the hit BBC drama series – as she gears up for a new detective role.
Jobert joined the show at the beginning of its fourth season in 2015 and was part of some huge storylines during her time – including the romance her character shared with Detective Neville Parker (played by Ralf Little).
During the recent series, the pair left the island of Saint Marie to embark on a new romance together – which left fans thrilled as it was something they had been wishing for since their first meeting.
However, whilst fans would inevitably love to see Jobert back on the show, she recently admitted that she doesn’t miss being part of it, before discussing her latest role.
During an Instagram Q&A (via Hello!), Jobert was chatting to her fans about her new detective drama, which she is currently filming.
She was asked by one fan whether she missed Death in Paradise, to which she rather surprisingly responded: “Not really.
“I had a great time and I made the best out of it. I have amazing memories and met amazing people too. But [it’s] time to move on.”
The remark comes just days after she revealed she’d be keen to cameo in the Death in Paradise spin-off show, Beyond Paradise, and said during a separate Instagram live: “Yes, why not?”
Whilst Jobert has left the series a couple of times, many fans were more devastated over Little leaving the series – prompting Don Gilet to take on the role of the lead detective.
Speaking about his decision to leave, Little said: “This last series was always going to be my last series, I had talks with the BBC, and with Red Planet, the production company and we all agreed that it just felt.
“If it was in my heart, like if it was just a heart decision, I’d have wanted to do it for 20 more years.
“But just for the show, and… for my character Neville, it just sort of felt like his story…
“It deserved to be sort of finished and his sort of journey… sort of deserved to be completed and he deserved a nice happy ending and so it just felt right.”
Fans will just have to wait and see if Jobert pops up in the Devon-set spin-off at some point in the future, but it probably won’t be anytime soon and she is starring in a new detective drama, Saint-Pierre.
Set in Canada, the synopsis for the series reads: “After Royal Newfoundland Constabulary Inspector Donny Fitzpatrick digs too deeply into a local politician’s nefarious activity, he is exiled to work in Saint-Pierre et Miquelon (the French Territory nestled in the Atlantic Ocean just off the coast of Newfoundland).
“Fitz’s arrival disrupts the life of Deputy Chief Geneviève ‘Arch’ Archambault (Jobert), a Parisian transplant who is in Saint-Pierre for her own intriguing reasons. Saint-Pierre is a police procedural with French star Joséphine Jobert as Arch and Canadian star Allan Hawco as Fitz, and James Purefoy rounding out the stellar team.

Although the islands seem like a quaint tourist destination, the idyllic façade conceals the worst kind of criminal activity which tends to wash up on its beautiful shores.
“At first at odds and suspicious of each other, Arch and Fitz soon discover that they are better together… a veritable crime-fighting force.”
