Jermaine Jenas is reportedly ‘mortified’ at the pain he has caused his family – as people look to ‘cash in’ on his situation.
The 41-year-old was axed by the BBC last month following allegations of inappropriate behaviour, with Jenas then admitting to sending unsolicited text messages to two members of staff.
He remains hopeful of having a career in television, however, with TNT Sports reportedly ready to offer him a lifeline.
Over the weekend there were claims that Jenas had sent a picture of his manhood to one woman. This is something the former England midfielder strongly denies, with Jenas also insisting the text messages that were sent were ‘between two consenting adults’.
A source has told The Sun that Jenas remains ‘mortified’ by his actions as he battles to save his marriage to his wife Ellie Penfold.
And it’s also claimed that people have been trying to capitalise on the situation, too.
The insider is quoted as saying: “The family have been battered with media attention and also a few false claims with people looking to cash in on the situation.
“He is mortified by the pain he has caused.”

The BBC have also responded to the new allegations against Jenas.
“As we have explained previously, he is no longer part of our presenting line up,” a spokesperson said.
A source close to Jenas says a 38-year-old woman met him in December 2022 at a five-star hotel restaurant in Doha, Qatar.
She is said to have given her number to the former footballer after he booked a table there.

“She handed Jermaine her number and was trying to arrange to meet him, whilst desperate for him to bring his VIP mates to her parties,” said the source.
“Funny now more than two years on the texts were not wanted.”
Jenas has fronted up and taken responsibility for his actions.
He previously admitted his wife, Ellie, was ‘raging’ at his antics.

And Jenas also revealed he was getting professional help having made a ‘lot of mistakes’ during their relationship.
“I have let myself down, my family, friends and colleagues down, and I owe everyone an apology — especially the women with whom I was messaging,” he said last month.
“I am so, so sorry.
“I think it would be fair to say I have a problem. I know I self- sabotage and have a self-destructive streak when it comes to my relationship especially, and I know I need help. And I am getting help.
“I have made a lot of mistakes, and I am asking myself a lot of questions at the moment.
“I know there’s a lot of work that needs to be done, and it will be hard.”
