Sir Terry Wogan’s son Mark Wogan and daughter Katherine have announced the death of their mother, Lady Helen, with a touching statement on social media.
Mark and Katherine are two of four children shared by Lady Helen and Sir Terry, who were married for 50 years until the latter’s death on January 31, 2016.
Alongside a slideshow of images of their mother and father, the siblings penned on Instagram: “Our beautiful Mum left us last night after a fantastic life.
“From a young Irish rose to Lady Wogan, she was the epitome of style and grace. A Mother, Grandmother and Wife, with love and kindness at her core.
“A strength and a belief that saw her through many of life’s trials. A sense of humour and a turn of phrase that would have you in fits of laughter.
“A proper lady in every sense of the word.”
They signed off the announcement with the poignant message: “Her and Dad are hopefully sharing a vodka martini and hoping we don’t make too much of fuss.
“We love you Mum, now and forever,” they concluded.
Tributes from far and wide soon flooded in for Lady Helen, including several from famous faces who were keen to share their condolences.
GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes was one of the first to comment as he penned: “Mark , so sorry to hear. What a woman and what a couple . My sincere condolences to you.”
Elsewhere, Strictly Come Dancing host Tess Daly echoed: “Thinking of you at this time,” followed by a love heart emoji.
And former Love Island star Laura Whitmore commented: “Thinking of you,” again followed by a love heart emoji.
Meanwhile, stuntman Jonathan Goodwin, who is engaged to former BBC Strictly star Amanda Abbington, weighed in: “Mark, I’m truly sorry. Sincere condolences xx.”
“Sending love matey. God bless ya all,” added Ronan Keating while Daly’s Strictly co-host Claudia Winkleman: typed: “Am so so sorry xxx.” (sic)

As well as four children, Sir Terry and Lady Helen were also the proud grandparents to five grandchildren.

Following Sir Terry’s death, close pal Father Brian D’Arcy publicly stated just how much his wife and family meant to the broadcaster.
“They were married for over 50 years,” he said. “Anyone who ever went to the Wogan household understands there are no pictures of stars around the walls of his house.
“The living room is festooned with pictures of young children young and old, grandchildren, family grandchildren, family gatherings, food, together round a table, weddings, baptisms, all of those things surround the walls of his entire house.
“The family was the centre of his life and everything revolved around the happiness of Helen and the family,” he added, according to Metro.
