Amanda Owen, star of Channel 5’s Our Yorkshire Farm, has opened up about the breakdown of her 22-year marriage to Clive Owen, 72, and her subsequent split from boyfriend Robert Davies.
The 50-year-old shepherdess revealed that jealousy and media pressure contributed to the end of her marriage in 2022, with her ex-husband admitting to struggling with Amanda’s growing fame.
The 72-year-old told the Daily Mail: “I wanted to keep her to myself and for her not to leave the farm. That’s really when the relationship started to go bad, I suppose. I was jealous, and I was difficult to deal with.”
The couple, who share nine children, found their relationship strained by the success of their Channel 5 show, leaving Clive to confess to “drinking a lot of whisky” and engaging in arguments as his behaviour worsened.
Following their separation, Amanda revealed that Clive suggested she date their mutual friend, Robert Davies, leaving the shepherdess to tell the same publication: “Rob was a friend that Clive and I had both known for a long time.
“What he offered me was conversation rather than confrontation, and Clive knew about it from the very beginning.”
However, the relationship with Davies was short-lived due to intense media scrutiny, with Amanda adding: “Rob and I were both shattered by the way the media pursued us and reported it and as a result, Rob and I are no longer together or in touch.”
Despite their split, Amanda and Clive have maintained a close relationship, leaving the 50-year-old to comment: “Clive is the person that I talk to now. He’s my confidant and he will now listen to my worries and I his.”
The pair describe themselves as “separated, but wholly united” in co-parenting their nine children.
Clive previously reflected on the impact their TV show had on their marriage, and told TV host Lorraine Kelly: “Oh, without a doubt, and once a wedge begins to come between you for whatever reason… we were under pressure, it was crazy.”
Amanda, meanwhile, found clarity during lockdown and explained: “I realised I felt calmer being apart from Clive. And it was at this point we both decided to make it a more permanent arrangement.”
Despite the challenges, both Amanda and Clive have been candid about their experiences, offering insight into the complexities of their relationship breakdown.
Whilst the couple are no longer married, Amanda and Clive Owen are set to return to television in a new series on More4 called “Our Farm Next Door: Amanda, Clive and Kids”.
The 10-part programme will follow the family as they renovate a derelict farmhouse near their main home.

The series will involve the entire family and local tradesmen, highlighting their ability to work together despite personal challenges.
“This new project has been a huge undertaking for the whole family and one we are excited to be able to share with the viewers at home,” she added.
