Celebrity MasterChef viewers were once again left annoyed with the BBC series as the five latest celebrities entered the kitchen – but most fans were curious as to who they were.
They jumped straight in at the deep end as they took on the Under the Cloche challenge, with each celebrity picking a mystery ingredient that they had to sprinkle with a bit of culinary magic.
Goat’s cheese, pineapple and poussin were amongst the offerings and had to be shown off in its best light to win over judges John Torode and Gregg Wallace.
The stars were also challenged to cook two dinner party dishes that they were happy to serve for their friends and family, leaving the judges with the tough decision of who to send home.
As the celebrities were introduced to the show, many fans watching at home were left unimpressed with the calibre and slammed the BBC for getting “z-list” stars on.
Taking to their X accounts, one slammed: “If Celebrity MasterChef was a product for sale in a shop, they would be probably sued under the trade descriptions act for a misleading title!”
“Plumbing the absolute depths of Z-list ‘TV celebs’ Who on earth are these people?” someone asked before another added: “Another week, another dose of the who’s who of who??”
“Someone who was in The Traitors is now deemed a ‘celebrity’?” another simply penned before a fifth noted: “Diane from The Traitors isn’t a celebrity! #celebritymasterchef”
A sixth quipped: “So this week’s celebs? I’ve heard of one of them, the woman from Sugarbabes.” (sic)
Unfortunately for Diane Carson, she was the first to be eliminated from the show after failing to impress the judges with her “chaotic” cooking skills.
During the first challenge, Carson left Wallace and Torode to brand her carving skills “atrocious” as she admitted she never normally does the carving of the meat at home.
After roasting her poussin and serving it with honey and chilli kale, chips and chicken jus, Torode teased: “I seem to have a breast and a leg, Gregg seems to be missing an appendage.”
She explained: “Yeah I mean, to be fair, I don’t do the carving at home, so I sort of muddled my way through carving the chicken for you.”
Away from the presentation of the dish, Wallace revealed: “Your chicken is glorious. It’s really soft and moist. It looks like it’s been hacked away from the bone, but it tastes fantastic

However, Torode was less impressed and critiqued: “Your chips, they’re a bit soggy, they haven’t quite worked out. The sauce could be thicker, but it’s got the lovely chicken flavour.
“The kale itself, with a little bit of spice coming through it, and then the sweetness of honey, that’s fab. I’m impressed with your pallet Diane, your carving is atrocious.”
After they revealed she was the first star to be leaving this week heats, she reflected: “Disappointed but, you know, somebody has to go home.
“This experience has definitely brought a bit of passion back for cooking actually. I can’t wait to have dinner parties again.”
